Requirements for Dedication:
- Attend at least one full moon, new moon, and sabbat circle.
- In full, write a Blue Star new moon ritual.
- Answer the question, “Why do you want to be a dedicated Pagan?” Dedication is a commitment to the God and the Goddess. To be dedicated is to affirm one’s devotion to the Gods—in a Pagan circle, in the presence of a Blue Star coven—and to allow a Blue Star priest and/or priestess to teach you.
- Perform at least one part of a ritual under the direction of the Priest/ess of the circle.
- Read about and explore some form of divination that’s new to you.
- Complete the following classes and associated homework:
- Altar Set-up, Part 1
- Ritual Form, Part 1
- Roles of the 4 Officiants
- Complete the following required reading:
- Wicca for Beginners: Fundamentals of Philosophy & Practice (For Beginners (Llewellyn's))
—Thea Sabin—Introductory text
- The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Goddess: 20th Anniversary Edition
—Starhawk—Basic energy work (Note: 20th Anniversary edition is recommended.)
- Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America
—Margot Adler—Seminal historical text
- Any 1 other book as assigned by your teacher
Responsibilities of the Dedicant:
- Attend all circles and classes, unless three days’ prior notice is given.
- Hand in assignments on time.
- Accept and follow the directions of the priest and priestess or their appointees.
- Learn how to care for ritual tools, and be prepared to help in their care if need be.
- Assist in setting up for ritual and cleaning up after feast.
- Contribute towards feast food. (Contributions of ritual supplies are encouraged in addition.)
